Who We Are
Karate Manitoba is the Provincial Sport Organization for karate recognized by Sport Manitoba. We create opportunities for growth, sharing of knowledge and support in the development of members, athletes, coaches and officials across the province from the grassroots to the competitive level, all within an open, inclusive, all-style karate organization. Working closely with our membership, we are building a thriving organization and solidifying Manitoba’s presence in the national karate arena.
Karate Manitoba was founded in 1969 as The Manitoba Karate Association (MKA) by
Mr. Richard (Tug) Wilson and registered in March, 1974. Karate Manitoba has been recognized by Sport
Manitoba for almost 30 years as the Sports Governing Body
for Karate in the province.
Shotokan, Shito, Wado, Goju, Kyokushin-Kai, and Chito make
up the major different karate systems in the world. All of
these systems are recognized by Karate Manitoba and have
been members of this association since its inception 30
years ago.
The Karate Manitoba has grown from a membership of 3-4 clubs to clubs in
all of the seven Regional Sport Zones in Manitoba. |

Karate
Manitoba membership fees are due by October 1st of the
current membership year.
Please remember to have them submitted by mail to the P.O. 2519 Winnipeg MB R3C 4A7 address by this date. In
order to take part in any tournaments, team trainings you
must be a member in good standing. Contact Membership
